The App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates to existing programs and games are constantly being added. You probably don’t notice this much, because most of it is not worth downloading. iPhoned therefore separate the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. Here are this week’s best iOS apps, updates, and games.
1. Twitter
Twitter is finally back with an official app for macOS. It is now available for free download in the App Store and runs on Apple’s latest software platform Catalyst.
More than a year ago, Twitter pulled its app from the App Store for the Mac. The social network wanted to focus on providing the same experience across all platforms, and hoped that users would use the web version of the service. With the arrival of macOS Catalina, it has become easier to transfer iPad apps, which Twitter makes grateful use of.
2. Day One Journal
The Day One Journal app is a bullet journal app. It works very intuitively and is therefore easy to use. After downloading, you can get started right away. There are all kinds of options: writing, making lists, adding photos, and so on. The various tabs at the bottom of the screen allow you to quickly switch between types of notes.
You have various templates to make the text look as clear as possible for you. You can choose bullets, numbers, or text with bold letters. There is also a handy agenda, to which you can easily add things. The app is free, but you have to pay for some features. For example, you can’t draw in the free version of the app.
3. Instagram
With the latest iOS 13 update, you have the option to put your iPhone in dark mode. Instagram now also has this feature thanks to the latest app update. One of the most popular iOS apps is easier on your eyes and better for your battery life.
If you have updated the application to the latest version, the appearance of Instagram will automatically change based on the theme you have set on your iOS device. So if you activate the dark mode of iOS 13, the dark mode will be enabled on Instagram at the same time.
4. Grobo
In the new puzzle game Grobo you play as a friendly robot in the abandoned city of Megatropolis. The city in the background looks beautiful with hand-drawn visuals. At first glance it looks a bit like the classic super mario: in a 2D level you have to get from one place to another.
But Grobo can manipulate gravity, adding an extra puzzle element. In 48 brain-teasing levels, you must use your insight to see how you get past various obstacles. For example, climb on the ceiling or move blocks to progress.
5. Krystopia
Another kind of puzzle game is Krystopia. In this narrative game, Nova Dune has entered Krystopia. She really just wanted to get some stuff there and go straight away. But that turns out to be less easy than expected.
In each chapter you have to open another door. By solving puzzles in escape-room style you open the locks on the door. If that is successful you will reach the next level. A good brain trainer, because every level gets more difficult.
