The 5 best iOS apps in the App Store from week 42 – 2018

The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! As far as we are concerned, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 42 here.

The best iOS apps at a glance

The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part is worth installing. If your iPhone or iPad can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.

1. Adobe Premiere Rush

Adobe will release Photoshop for the iPad in 2019, but until then you can edit videos professionally with Premiere Rush. This app is also available for the Mac and PC.

You can make relatively quick and simple video edits with Premiere Rush. The sync function is particularly useful: if you film and edit something with your iPhone, you can put the finishing touches directly on your Mac thanks to Creative Cloud.

2. NPO Radio apps

The NPO has renewed all its radio apps. Each channel has its own app, but the structure and new functions are the same. The design has been thoroughly overhauled and, above all, a lot clearer thanks to the new menu at the bottom.

You can also scroll back to the start of the broadcast and stream the music thanks to AirPlay. Unfortunately, you can no longer easily switch between radio stations: you have to download the specific app. On the other hand, the NPO has embraced podcasts and gives them a prominent place in the app.

3. Reigns: Game of Thrones

In Reigns: Game of Thrones, it is your job to become king of Westeros. You play as your favorite character from the series and can choose from Cersei and Tyrion Lannister, Sansa Stark, Jon Snow and more. Of course you will not become a ruler without a fight in this game where you make choices by swiping left or right.

You will have to work your way through political intrigues, disrupted family ties and apply a lot of diplomacy or not. You can let go of your own vision of Westeros and play out alternative scenarios. What would have happened if Sansa Stark had married Jaime Lannister, for example? Create your own Westeros in Reigns: Game of Thrones.

4. Spotify

Spotify Premium members now receive a more personalized artist radio and better search function. The way of navigating will be different and the search suggestions will be better tailored to your music taste.

The biggest improvement, however, is the personalized artist radio. Spotify uses the same algorithm for this as with Discover Weekly. When you reach the end of a playlist, the app automatically plays other songs that sound like music to your ears.

5. Element

Element is a beautifully designed strategy game in which you search for a new planet to colonize. The earth is so devastated that there are too few raw materials for humanity to survive.

You have to scout planets, collect enough raw materials and manage your own supplies in the meantime. Plus, you can be attacked in the meantime, so make sure you can defend yourself. It is of course also possible to attack the enemy yourself.
