During the Christmas dinner, the iPhones of the iPhoned editors also remain in a pocket. For the rest of the two days, however, there are plenty of handy Christmas apps to put on your iPhone’s home screen. We list our favorite Christmas apps of 2019.
Our best Christmas apps of 2019
The best Christmas apps don’t have to be directly related to a Christmas tree or Santa Claus. For this overview, we deliberately looked for apps that come in handy during the holidays. You can of course continue to use them afterwards.
1. Google Photos
Whatever you’re going to do for Christmas, you’re guaranteed to take pictures of it with your iPhone. By uploading it to Google Photos afterwards and creating an album, you can immediately share it with everyone else in attendance. They in turn can add their Christmas snaps to the album.
That way everyone gets the nicest photos of the Christmas season, without looking at them all one by one in a WhatsApp group. Saving your photos in Google Photos is a good idea anyway. The app gives you unlimited online storage, so that you still have all your photos if your iPhone no longer works.

2. Flash Master
For everyone who takes Driving Home For Christmas literally: with Flitsmeister you not only stay informed about possible Christmas crowds on the road. You also avoid being accidentally flashed because you want to drive as fast as possible to the gourmet dish that is waiting for you at home.
Flitsmeister has been updated for years and now has a very nice, clear appearance. The fanatical community that continuously passes on notifications makes Flitsmeister an indispensable app for everyone on the road.
3. Foodie
At the beginning of the article we promised that we would not use our iPhone during Christmas dinner, but that is of course not entirely true. After all, that impressive Christmas dinner has to be recorded to make everyone jealous.
You can do that with the standard camera app on your iPhone, but we prefer Foodie. This app is specially designed for food capture. Foodie lends a hand to center your plate and is packed with filters that keep different types of food looking their best.

4. Instagram
You naturally share your photographic creations on a network that is especially intended for photos. We’re talking Instagram, which has special Christmas stickers these days to brighten up your images. How about a beautiful moving snowman, so that we still have a bit of a white Christmas.
5. Sing! Karaoke
If you’re tired of that Christmas music, you can of course just grab the microphone yourself. With Sing! Karaoke turns the Apple TV and a few iPhones into a real karaoke set. You can easily connect smartphones to the app, which then act as a microphone.
In the app there is a huge list of songs at your disposal, although it of course depends on your own singing skills whether you make the evening more fun or not.

6. Forest
If you’re struggling not to touch your iPhone during the Christmas season, you should give Forest a try. This app encourages you to reduce smartphone use. The nice thing about Forest is the way in which you are encouraged to put your smartphone away. The app plants trees and they only grow if you don’t unlock your iPhone.
If you can’t resist the temptation of a notification, you’re back to square one. All this data is neatly kept, so that you can make a nice overview of all the moments when you deliberately left your iPhone behind.
