The new week is just around the corner, but before that, let’s take a look back at the last seven days. The editors of iPhoned has rounded up the best iOS apps, games and updates from last week.
Last week’s 6 best iOS apps
The App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates to existing programs and games are added all the time. You probably don’t notice this much, because most of it is not worth downloading. iPhoned therefore separate the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. Here are this week’s best iOS apps, updates, and games.
1. Focos Live
Taking photos in Portrait mode has been possible for a long time, but until now you can not film in Portrait mode with the Camera app of iOS. That’s a shame, because the blurred background gives a nice depth effect. Focos Live offers the solution.

In the app it is possible to film with the so-called bokeh effect. The video focuses on the subject, blurring everything else. Your videos will then look extra professional. The app is free to use, but with a subscription of 9.99 euros per year you have access to all functions.
2. Gmail
Gmail got a major update this week. This one has everything to do with multitasking. The most important addition is the Split View support for the iPad. This feature has been available in iPadOS for a long time, but not all apps support it.

Split View allows you to operate two apps side by side. The Gmail app can now be operated while you have another app open, such as your calendar. Curious how it works? You can read it in the tip below.
3. Task Heat
Looking for a good to do list app? Then you can give Taskheat a chance. The app reminds you of important appointments and you can organize your tasks well. In addition, you can divide different types of tasks into projects.
The app is available on macOS, iPadOS, and iOS. You can see all your tasks in a list. If you want to make your planning even more organized, it is also possible to convert the task list into a Flowchart. That way you can see everything at a glance, and you can also quickly adjust your tasks.
4. Battle Legion
This colorful game is a lot less fun than you might think at first glance. In the battle game you and your army go into battle against various enemies. With a good dose of strategy and great variation between armies, it’s hard to put your iPhone down.
Different armies have different strategies. For example, some can teleport themselves, while others set different traps on the field. One very small change in your position can have major consequences, for good or bad.
5. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales
Thronebreaker made the switch to iOS this week. The card game was originally only available for the PC, but it also lends itself very well to the touchscreen.
The game is set in the monster world of The Witcher and is mainly about strategy. With the cloud function you can continue your saved game on both PC and iPhone. The game is on the pricey side, but you do get a good quality game in return.
6. Maze: Path of Light
Puzzle fans take note: in Maze you have to look for the way out in up to 3000 unique mazes. The idea is quite simple. Swiping your finger across the field creates a luminous path. The luminous square is your starting point. From there, look for the exit.
The mazes all have a different figure. So you have a circle or triangle, but it can also be in the shape of a rabbit or guitar. Because there is no time pressure, the game is wonderfully relaxing to do.
