The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! As far as we are concerned, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 50 here.
The best iOS apps at a glance
The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part of it is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.
1. Fez: Pocket Edition
When Fez came out on gaming consoles in 2012, prizes rained down for this clever puzzle game. Everything revolves (literally) in Fez around one principle: the 2D world in which you walk and jump can be rotated at the touch of a button. Each screen has four sides, where secrets and solutions to puzzles are hidden time and time again.
By playing with the perspective of the game world, you can, for example, connect paths to each other, so that unreachable platforms are suddenly within reach. This starts out simple, but ends up being quite challenging.

2. Selfissimo
The new apps from Google are part of a new program that the company has created. Google calls it ‘Appsperiments’. With Selfissimo you install a passport photo booth on your phone, as it were. The app takes a series of selfies in black and white. Tapping the screen starts the photo session. Every time you take a different pose, the app takes a photo. In addition, texts are shown that encourage you, such as ‘Strike a pose!’, ‘Fantastic!’ and ‘You’re magical!’.
Tap the screen again and the photo session ends. The photos you have taken are immediately displayed and you can view, share and delete them one by one.

3. Scrubbies
Scrubbies is an app that allows you to record videos. Then you can make some kind of remixes. By swiping a finger over the video, the video will play. If you swipe with two fingers, you will light out a part of the film and you can make the images move back and forth. Google compares it to scratching a DJ.
The short remixes contain highlights from videos, for example, which are then played in a repeat. It takes some practice to get the hang of it, but this can produce some funny results, similar to Live Photos.

4. CARROT Weather
Carrot Weather was invented for anyone who could use some humor in their weather app. The app is a reliable source of weather information and is filled to the brim with cynical statements and silly humor. Plus, with iOS 11 or later, you can use AR mode to see the sarcastic weather robot in real life.
The sharp humor is not only reflected in the app itself, but also in the handy widget. This makes Carrot Weather by far the nicest weather app with a nice design. The Apple Watch app has a handy complication, so you can give it a permanent place on your watch face.

5. The official Star Wars app
Simple, you must have the official Star Wars app. Here you will find the latest news, a countdown to upcoming Star Wars movies and official videos, such as trailers. You can also find GIFs, take selfies with the heroes of Star Wars and find Jakku Spy. With it you can watch virtual reality videos with Google Cardboard.
The app also offers a range of cool emoji and gifs that you can send to your friends. You can also consult the history of Star Wars to learn more about how the film series came about. In addition, the app can give you the weather forecast, completely in Star Wars style.

6. Life is Strange
In Life is Strange you play as high school student Max. After five years, she returns to her hometown Arcadia Bay. There she soon discovers that she has a special power: turning back time. This allows her to make wrong choices again. In theory, such a power makes your life infinitely easier, but in practice it is not easy.
The story in this episodic game series is not only about Max, but also childhood friend Chloe. They are two excellent characters that interact well with each other. While Max is a decent girl, Chloe shits about everything. In this world, the game discusses topics that you rarely see in other games. For example, the bullying via social media, the serious consequences of sexual violence and more.
