The action button is one of the innovations on the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). But according to rumors, the action button on the iPhone 16 will be even better.
Action button on iPhone 16 gets even better
The mute button has disappeared on the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Instead, you will now find the action button in the same place. The advantage of this button is that you can attach your own chosen functionality to it. For example, consider starting the camera or starting an assignment.
According to rumors, every version of the iPhone 16 will soon have the action button. But even more is going to change. This new action button gets even better. This new action button functions approximately the same as the Touch ID button that you recently only found on the iPhone SE 2022 or the trackpad on MacBooks.
According to MacRumors the new action button becomes pressure sensitive. This will allow the button to know how hard you press it. According to rumors, the next iPhones will also have a new ‘Capture’ button with the same functionality.
Not just on iPhone 16
But the new action button will soon not only be found on the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) and iPhone 16 models. According to rumors, the next iPhone SE will also have an action button. It is not yet known whether this will be the same as you have on the iPhone 16. However, the iPhone SE 4 is only scheduled for 2025, so you will have to be patient anyway.
This does mean that soon there will no longer be any new iPhone with a mute button. The iPhone 15 Plus and the iPhone 15 are the last iPhones that still have this button.
