Are you not completely satisfied with the settings of your monitor? Fortunately, you can adjust a few things in Windows 11 yourself. What can you change to get the most optimal settings for your screen?
1. Resolution
The resolution of your monitor is important to get texts, images and videos sharp and clear on your screen. A high resolution like 1600 x 1200 pixels provides a sharp image, while a lower resolution of 800 x 600 enlarges your screen and makes certain apps or web pages look a bit blurry.
In principle, your screen is automatically set to the most optimal resolution, but it doesn’t hurt to check this anyway. Enter for that Windows 11 to the Settings app and in the System menu you will find the option Display. Click on it and you will immediately receive more information about your monitor. below Scale and layout do you find the option Screen resolution. You should see behind the screen resolution in brackets recommended to stand. You then know that you have chosen the best settings in terms of screen resolution.
If you have trouble reading texts properly from the screen, for example, then you don’t have to adjust the resolution of your screen. below Scale and layout do you also find the option Dish to adjust the size of text and apps, among other things. For example, choose 125% to zoom in on your image. It doesn’t make it look nicer, but it can increase readability.

2. Colors
If you are not completely satisfied with the color settings of your screen, you can calibrate your monitor. This adjusts the gamma, brightness, colors and contrast of your screen to a fixed standard. In the search bar of the Settings app, type Calibrate Display Color. Then go through the wizard to set the most ideal options for your monitor.
If the colors are simply too sharp for your eyes, for example early in the morning or late at night, you don’t have to calibrate your screen every time. In Windows 11 you will find a ‘night lamp’ that you can turn on to use warmer light colors. This gives more rest to your eyes. The option can be found in the Display menu under Night Light.
3. HDR
A relatively unknown feature within the Display menu is HDR. Here you can calibrate your built-in display for high quality streaming HDR videos. By calibrating your monitor you can adjust the balance between the details in the bright parts and those in the dark parts of a scene.
Not all displays support this feature in Windows 11. Below Display options see you at Play streaming HDR video and Using HDR whether the respective functions are supported. If this is the case, you can choose Display calibration for HDR video. You can then use a slider to determine the balance between the details in dark and bright parts of a scene.
