Which telephone subscription do you want? Ask this question and you will soon be half an hour further. There are countless options and everyone has different wishes. Which device do you choose, how many MBs are you going to use and do you want many or few calling minutes? And of course we want all of this as cheaply as possible.
It is therefore not surprising that more than half of Dutch people prefer one sim only subscription. If you are not yet familiar with SIM only, no problem, we have listed the benefits for you.
Cheap
The most obvious advantage of a SIM-only subscription is that it is cheaper than a subscription with a device. With SIM only you only pay for your subscription and not for an expensive device that you purchased at the same time. If you don’t want the latest iPhone 16, buy a cheaper version or use your old device. With SIM only you only pay for the MBs and calling minutes.

Flexibility
You put together your bundle yourself and you can adjust it every month. Do you call a lot? Then choose a SIM-only subscription with unlimited calling. This also applies to your internet use. If you use your mobile network non-stop, unlimited internet is a good choice. An increase in your bundle takes effect immediately, a reduction the following month. Please note: with some providers, lowering your bundle is only possible with a monthly subscription or outside the contract period.
So many options that you can no longer see the forest for the trees? With most providers you can easily compare the different SIM-only subscriptions. Even if you want a monthly SIM-only subscription. The advantage of comparing is that you put together your subscription yourself while comparing.
Device freedom
Stuck on a phone for two years? Not with a SIM-only subscription. This allows you to switch phones whenever you want. With a subscription that includes a telephone, you must first pay it off before the telephone is really yours. Now you simply insert your SIM card into the latest iPhone and continue with Instagram and apps, without having to change subscription. So you can also choose from all telephones, not just the ones offered by the provider.
Can be canceled monthly
SIM-only subscriptions are available as fixed contracts for 12 or 24 months. But the useful thing about SIM-only subscriptions is that you can also conclude contracts that can be canceled monthly. In theory, you could switch subscriptions every month. Without cancellation fines. Please note any closing costs that providers charge when you take out a new subscription.

No BKR registration
Are you taking out a subscription with a new telephone costing €250 or more? Then you will receive a BKR registration. You take out a loan for your telephone, which you pay off monthly. This may have disadvantages: for example, the maximum mortgage may be lower. Your loan remains registered with the BKR for five years. A SIM-only subscription is therefore an advantage, because you then have to provide your own telephone. You don’t pay off a device, you don’t take out a loan and you don’t get one eitherBKR registration with your telephone subscription.
