These 3 improvements can be found in macOS Mojave in Finder

In macOS Mojave, many programs have been redesigned or improved. Finder has also been addressed. In these three ways, macOS Mojave improves the file manager.

How macOS Mojave Finder makes it work better

No doubt every Mac user opens Finder several times a day. Here you will find all your files, photos and more. Enough reason for Apple to also take Finder and make various improvements in macOS Mojave.

Thanks to three adjustments, you now have more overview and information in Finder, and you don’t have to open Preview to edit a file or document as quickly. We list the improvements for you.

1. Gallery view

In macOS Mojave, the old-fashioned Cover Flow view has been replaced with a revamped Gallery view. From now on you will see a preview of the selected file in this mode, and a row of previews of files or photos can be found at the bottom.

This way you can quickly navigate through all your files and find the one photo you want to send more easily. The difference with Cover Flow is that the preview is even larger and the list of file names has been replaced with the small thumbnails at the bottom.

2. View metadata

When you scroll through your files in Gallery view, you’ll find a handy collection of metadata on the right-hand side. The metadata also appears in column view. This allows you to see at a glance the dimensions, the number of pages, the last editing date and other information of photos and documents.

If you don’t think this is necessary, you can hide the metadata via ‘View> Hide preview’. However, this will not give you a larger preview of the file being shown.

3. Shortcuts to edit a photo

Also, macOS Mojave eliminates the need to open Preview to quickly edit a photo. This can also simply be done via Finder. When you have selected a photo, three buttons will appear at the bottom of the metadata on the right.

With ‘Rotate left’ you rotate the photo, with ‘Mark’ you can easily add notes or text. With a video file, ‘Mark’ changes into a shortcut with which you can shorten a video.

Via the ‘More’ option you create a PDF or perform a custom action. In the settings of Finder you can adjust which options the ‘More’ button opens. When you have selected multiple photos or cannot edit a photo, the two edit buttons change to the ‘Create PDF’ option.
