A new app can instantly delete old tweets, shield your Facebook profile from strangers, and clear Google searches. Jumbo makes keeping privacy a lot easier.
Jumbo: the app for your privacy
The new app aims to monitor and improve your privacy on the internet. The program does that by letting you manage all your personal information on social media from one place. Jumbo currently works with Twitter, Facebook, Google searches and Amazon Alexa.
The principle is simple. Jumbo describes itself as ‘the app for your privacy’ and you can, for example, choose to automatically delete tweets. In this way, the short messages automatically disappear after a day, week, month or three months.
This way you can never be confronted with tweets from the past afterwards. However, the tweets have not completely disappeared from the face of the earth, but are stored in Jumbo. This way you can always see for yourself what you have written.
Automatically clear Google searches
In addition, the app makes it easier to protect your Facebook profile. Where you normally have to look up and go through up to 30 privacy settings, at Jumbo you only have to choose how much you want to give away.
When you choose ‘strong’ security, most of the information is only visible to you, while ‘weak’ also allows friends of friends to see where you live, work, study and more.
In addition, Jumbo can also automatically delete searches in Google and Alexa, although Amazon’s voice assistant is not popular in the Netherlands. In the future, the maker hopes to add Instagram and Tinder to the app, among other things.
Free to download
Jumbo cannot see your sensitive information, because everything is stored and executed locally. At the moment the app is free to use, but the intention is that power users pay for it in the future. For example, you can currently delete ‘only’ 3200 tweets at a time.
