This app lets you take 3D photos with your iPhone

The new iOS app Slide lets you take moving photos in 3D. The app requires some practice, but the result is worth it.

Read on after the ad.

You can do this with Slide

Making 3D photos is not necessarily new, but Slide gives the principle its own jacket. The app is simple: you open the app, point your iPhone at what you want to photograph and press the button. After this you need to move your iPhone horizontally, smoothly but accurately. Then tap a point in the photo and Slide will automatically give it a 3D effect. In practice, this means that the photo wobbles from left to right, which looks funny. The video below gives a short impression of the app.

Despite the simple design, it does take a while before you fully master Slide. The app works best when there is a clear subject, foreground and background for your photo. It is also important that the lighting is good. The makers also advise you to play with depth and apply different layers. So you are free to make whatever you want.

Of course there are different ways to share your creations. You can do this from the app via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or iMessage. Here you have the choice to save the 3D photo as a gif or short video.
