The iPhone SE 2020 has a good camera for its price, but the portrait mode is quite limited. Halide Camera enhances the feature by offering better portrait photography software.
iPhone SE take portrait photos with Halide Camera
The camera of the iPhone SE 2020 has a special portrait mode for shooting people with a bokeh effect. Unfortunately, the mode does come with a limitation: it only works with people. An update to Halide Camera adds support for the new iPhone SE. This also includes a portrait mode that works with objects and animals.
The iPhone 11 devices come with a portrait mode for people, but also for objects and pets. This means that you can apply the so-called bokeh effect in many different situations. On the iPhone SE, however, this functionality is a lot more limited than on its bigger brothers.
With the iPhone SE, a message with the text ‘No person detected’ will appear when you want to take a portrait photo of your pet or an object. Point your camera at a person and everything works perfectly. This is a software limitation related to the iPhone SE having only one lens. After all, other iPhones use multiple lenses. Halide tries to address these limitations.
The app developers released this an update for their camera app on iOS. The update adds full support for the iPhone SE, as well as portrait mode for all objects. This allows you to use a portrait mode in Halide Camera in the same way as with the iPhone 11.
