iOS 11 accommodates people with a larger iPhone. A one-handed keyboard lets you easily type with one hand.
Apple introduces iOS 11 one-handed keyboard
For years, the App Store has had keyboards with more extensive options than those of Apple itself. Slowly but surely, however, the Cupertino company is adding new features, including iOS 11’s new one-handed keyboard.
As the name suggests, this iOS 11 feature is especially for those times when you don’t have two hands free to operate your iPhone. This is particularly useful on Plus models, which are more difficult to hold with one hand due to the larger screen.

With the one-handed keyboard you actually slide all buttons to the left or right. The buttons become narrower, take up less space and can thus be easily reached with your fingertips. Activating the function is also very easy.
This is how you activate the iOS 11 one-handed keyboard
- Open an app using the keyboard;
- Press and hold the globe until a shortcut menu appears;
- Choose whether you want to use the left or right handed keyboard;
- The keyboard will now slide up. Tap the arrow on the left or right to return to standard mode.
An option for left and right handers
As mentioned, Apple has also taken left and right-handed people into account. Keep in mind that you can of course only use this in the standard keyboard that is installed on your iPhone. iOS 11 is the most recent version of Apple’s mobile operating system and is free to download for iPhone and iPad.
