Although iOS 9.2 that appeared a few days ago mainly implements bug fixes and other small improvements, the update also brings a new function. One of these is Mail Drop and in this article we show you what you can do with the feature.
This is Mail Drop

You may already know Mail Drop from the Mac, where it has been available since OS X Yosemite. However, the feature was only added to iOS this week, with the release of iOS 9.2. Mail Drop is a simple yet powerful feature that further extends the capabilities of the Mail app. You can send files of up to 5GB to others. Conveniently, the feature is automatically enabled when the Mail app detects a large file. A menu will then appear to use Mail Drop immediately, or to send the file as an attachment.
If you choose Mail Drop, the file in question will be uploaded to iCloud and a link will appear in the email. This allows other users to download the file, which happens automatically if they also have OS X Yosemite (or later) or iOS 9.2. It is important that files are kept in iCloud for a maximum of 30 days. In addition, keep in mind that you must have an iCloud account set up. If this is not the case with you, you can still do this by opening the Settings app and selecting ‘iCloud’.
Download iOS 9.2
As mentioned, Mail Drop is only available to users with iOS 9.2. You can download this update by going to ‘Settings> General> Software Update ‘ and then tapping Download and Install. iOS 9.2 is several hundred MB and available for the iPhone 4S or higher, iPad 2 or higher, and the iPod touch (fifth and sixth generation).
