With the dock you can work quickly and efficiently on your iPad. If you use an app more often, it will automatically be added to this bar at the bottom, so that you can switch quickly. If you don’t want this, you can delete the shortcut. That’s how you do that.
Disable recommended and recent apps on your iPad dock
On the iPad it is possible to equip the dock with your favorite apps. The programs you use the most are always at the bottom of the screen, even if you swipe through the different screens. You can store no fewer than fifteen shortcuts on the larger iPad (with a 12.9-inch screen).
In addition, you can also store recently opened programs on the dock. These will automatically appear on the right, with a line in the middle so that you can distinguish between your own selected favorite apps. You may know this from the Mac, where the dock works the same way.
This is how you disable (and enable) the apps
Although the app icons are a handy way to quickly switch between programs, not everyone likes the function. For example, the dock can quickly become cluttered and the app icons sometimes clash with each other in terms of colors. Fortunately, it is possible to disable recommended and recent apps. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the ‘Settings’;
- Choose ‘General’ and tap on ‘Multitasking and dock’;
- Uncheck the slider behind ‘Show recommended and recent apps’.
That’s how you go back
Do you think the dock is pretty empty now? Then turn the recommended and recent apps back on by sliding the switch from step 3 in the opposite direction. Do you want to work even more effectively with your iPad? Check out our tip on how to select large pieces of text in one go.
