If your Apple TV’s Siri Remote is dead or no longer paired for some other reason, you can manually reconnect it. We explain how this works.
Pair Siri Remote after low battery or problems
The Siri Remote is the remote that comes in the box of the fourth generation Apple TV (and newer). It should be automatically paired with your Apple TV when you turn it on. If the battery of your Siri Remote fails, or you want to pair a second Siri Remote, this will not happen automatically. The first thing to try in this case is to press any button on the Siri Remote.
If this does not work, you can follow the steps below. It is important that you stay close to your Apple TV, otherwise you will not connect. We also recommend unplugging the Apple TV and plugging it back in after ten seconds. This way you can be sure that the error is not with the Apple TV, but with the Siri Remote.
- Grab the unresponsive Siri Remote and hold it within 7 inches of the Apple TV;
- Press and hold the Menu and Volume Up button simultaneously;
- Hold the buttons for two to three seconds;
- The remote control will now be put back into pairing mode.
All you have to do now is sit near your Apple TV and press a button. At that moment, a message will appear on your TV, after which the remote control will be paired with your Apple TV again. If this doesn’t work, there may be something wrong with the Siri Remote. In that case, we recommend that you contact Apple Support.
