Facebook Messenger now officially has a dark mode, which is also immediately available to everyone. iPhone shows you how to activate the function.
Enable Facebook Messenger dark mode
Facebook released dark mode as a strain a month ago easter egg, but now the feature is officially available. This means that you can simply switch it on and off via the settings. You do this like this:
- Update Facebook Messenger to the latest version;
- Open the app and tap your profile icon at the top left;
- You should immediately see the Dark Mode option appear at the top;
- Make sure the switch is set to green, so that the dark mode is switched on.
From now on, all your chats will be displayed in the dark, which is better for your eyes. Does not it work? Then force quit Facebook Messenger and try again. Also, it helps some to reboot their iPhone from scratch.
The dark mode for Facebook Messenger was already announced at the end of 2018. Then an update rolled out with a new way of navigating and more personal chats. The dark mode was then briefly shown and Facebook said the update would roll out later. In the end, only now can everyone with the dark mode get started.
More apps with dark mode
IOS 13 is rumored to have a built-in dark mode. This means you no longer have to rely on individual app builders, but you can darken the entire system in one go.
In the meantime, you can already get started with the dark mode in macOS Mojave, the dark mode in YouTube and the Books app. Our own iPhone app has a dark mode. In the settings you can switch it on or switch it on between specific times.
