Snapchat introduces a major extension to the popular filters of the chat service with World Lenses. Instead of the face of you and your friends, you can now also give the environment around you a different look. In this tip we show you step by step how to use the Snapchat World Lenses.
Using Snapchat World Lenses
The Snapchat World Lenses are a foretaste of the Spectacles, glasses with a built-in camera that make it even easier to take a nice photo or video. However, these Snapchat glasses are not yet for sale, but you can also use the new lenses on your iPhone. As is often the case with Snapchat, they are easy to use if you know where to look.
To ensure that you can use the Snapchat World Lenses, it is important that you have version 9.43.0.0 of the app installed or higher. You need at least iOS 8 for this. You then use the world lenses as follows:
- Open Snapchat and do not use the front but rear camera of your iPhone;
- Press and hold the screen so that a white circle appears around your finger;
- Choose a World Lens from the menu at the bottom of the screen to apply the effect.
These lenses are more interactive than we are used to from Snapchat. For example, there is a lens that reacts to the sound you make and a lens that lets you look around you. You can count on Snapchat to expand this offering with more lenses in the future. Good news for people who like to take nice photos, without it always having to be a selfie.
