The iPhone Travel Guide: Apps for a Good Vacation

On holiday, many bring a nice holiday book full of tips with interesting locations or restaurants. These booklets contain a lot of information, but also become outdated very quickly. With the right apps, you will find a lot more information, including reviews from multiple people. We discuss a number of apps that contain the coolest tips. Happy Holidays!

1. Foursquare City Guide

By using the app, Foursquare gets to know you better and the app gives tips about things you probably like. You will even receive messages when Foursquare thinks something in the area is right for you. The nice thing about this app is that you can also fill in fairly specific searches.

2. Guides by Lonely Planet

Lonely Planet is an established name when it comes to travel guides, but the app can also do some of it. In this case, you don’t read all kinds of user reviews, but the Lonely Planet authors tell you where to go. The app looks fantastic, including beautiful photos and clear texts.

The tips can be filtered between seeing, eating, sleeping, shopping, drinking and playing. In the latter category you should think of, for example, a location for live music or a cinema. It is nice that the cities can also be downloaded for offline use.

3. Tripso

Triposo is a great app to discover a city. This application collects information from all kinds of other places, in order to combine it into an attractive city guide. Not only with deals for hotels, but also tips for restaurants and places of interest. In the app you also learn about the history of the city, what current festivals are going on, how public transport works and where you can do the laundry. The app has a handy offline function, if you don’t have internet on the go.
