Google announced Android 12 early this month and this Android version includes the new Material You design. Google is also rapidly adapting its apps to work with this new design, and it’s now the Play Store’s turn.
What is Material You?
Android 12 features a completely new design called Material You. That design is a modified version of the existing Material Design design language that was announced in 2014 and, according to Google, is all about the user. As a user, you can adjust the interface of Android 12 to the colors of the wallpaper you have set or choose colors yourself. The clock, widgets and quick settings, among other things, will adopt those colors.
On Android 12 Pixel phones, you can view and customize themes by going to Institutions > Background and style to go. you can also long press the home screen to access these options. Now the first Android phone owners will also see the Play Store in Material You style.

The Play Store with the new Material You design is rolling out slowly and today Google has given the rollout a nudge in the right direction. This is evident from the various tips that AndroidPolice has got. Below you can see a number of screenshots of the renewed app store.

You can see that the Play Store got the Material You design with the familiar curves, including the dynamic colors. In addition, the bottom navigation bar has been enlarged and now includes the pill-shaped buttons. Unfortunately, the new design has not yet been implemented in the entire app because it is limited to the home screen. So work in progress, but you can also see it as half-baked work on the part of Google.
When will I get the new Play Store?
For the rollout of the function, Google uses a so-called server test, in which the (partial) Material You design for the Play Store is remotely enabled for phones that run on Android 12. case not yet seen on existing Pixel phones.
