This way the battery of your Apple Watch lasts a lot longer

The Apple Watch’s battery life was never really anything to write home about. Although the new Watch 8 and Watch Ultra already improve this thanks to a new mode, you can now luckily also do a lot longer with an older version of the smartwatch.

To use this power saving mode, you need a Watch with watchOS 9 installed. That means you need an Apple Watch 4 or newer and pair it with an iPhone 8 or newer (or an iPhone SE 2).

Apple Watch: Set Power Saving Mode

You set the power saving mode by turning the Control Center on your Apple Watch. You do this by swiping up from the bottom on the screen. You will see the battery percentage here. Press and make sure the power saving mode switch is on. When the feature is active, you will see a yellow circle at the top of your screen.

If you want to turn the mode off again, you do it practically in the same way. You swipe up from the bottom of your screen again and press the battery percentage. That button has now turned yellow. Press the slider again and you can get back to work on your Apple Watch with the functions that you temporarily said goodbye to.

Not without drawbacks

It is important to know that using the power saving mode on the Apple Watch is not without its drawbacks. There are a number of functions that you cannot use as long as the mode is active. It Always Onscreen will turn off, for example, and your heart rate and blood oxygen levels will no longer be continuously monitored.

In addition, Siri may have to think a little longer to process or perform your questions or tasks. Notifications may also arrive a little later and the Apple Watch will not detect that you have started a walk or workout. If you can live with this, then you can at least last a lot longer with the smartwatch!
