In iOS 12, Apple introduced grouped notifications. This can make the message center and lock screen a lot less chaotic. This is how you adjust the settings per app.
This is how you adjust grouped notifications in iOS 12
By grouping notifications from the same app, Apple hopes to give users a better overview. For example, if you receive multiple WhatsApp or iMessage messages in a row, they form a group. This way they are not mixed up with other reports and they no longer form a long list.
When you receive apps from different people, your iPhone sorts the notifications per contact. Would you rather have all notifications from a particular app merged together? Then you can easily adjust that. Even if you prefer standard individual notifications, you can quickly turn off the ‘Group notifications’ function.
- Open Settings;
- Go to the ‘Notifications’ menu;
- Select the app for which you want to adjust the form of notifications;
- Tap the option ‘Group notifications’;
- Do you want all notifications from that app together? Then select ‘By app’. If you no longer want grouped notifications, press ‘Off’.
When you now receive notifications from the apps whose settings you have adjusted, they will no longer arrive or will come in completely grouped.
On the one hand, it is handy that you can adjust the function per app and thus personalize your iPhone even more. If you do not like grouped notifications at all, then you will unfortunately have to disable this for all apps.
Notifications are addressed
Apple tackles one of the biggest criticisms of iOS with grouped notifications: the notifications. If you haven’t used your iPhone for a while and wake up the screen, chances are it is filled with dozens of notifications. This results in a chaotic situation.
In addition to grouped notifications, it is also possible to manage notifications directly from the lock screen, and delete them if necessary. Check our article on iOS 12 notifications to get the most out of the notifications.
