Got a song stuck in your head, but can’t remember the name? Annoying! But with this app, you’ll quickly recognize this ‘earworm’!
This way you can always recognize a song (by whistling or humming)
Sometimes you wake up in the morning and immediately have an (annoying) melody stuck in your head. But where is that tune from again? Of course, it will stay in your head all day. Until you know the name of the song… Normally you can use the app Shazam on your iPhone when you hear a song somewhere. But if you only have the song in your head, that becomes a lot harder.
Whistling and humming with the Google app
But there is a solution! The Google app can recognize music if you whistle or hum the song. Handy if you only know the melody and not the lyrics of the song. The app gives you a short list of titles that match your whistling or humming after just a few seconds. In almost all cases, the app came up with the right song right away.
Identify a song by whistling or humming with the Google app
- Download the Google app to your iPhone if you don’t have it already;
- Launch the app and tap the house at the bottom;
- Tap the music note button below the bar. If the button is not visible, you will need to swipe your finger across the buttons to see the option;
- You see a large ball consisting of dots. Whistle or hum (or sing of course) the melody of the song;
- After a few seconds, the Google app will display the results on the screen.
Recognize a song with Shazam (also with headphones)
If you hear a song somewhere and you want to know the name of it, use the Shazam app. The app comes standard on every iPhone (and can be downloaded for free from the App Store).
With this app too, recognition is very easy. Start the app and tap the big button in the middle of the screen. Then hold the iPhone near the music and wait a moment. The name of the song will then automatically appear in the app.
