How annoying it is if you want to watch a series on your iPhone or iPad, but find out that your bluetooth headset is no longer connected. IOS 13 makes it a lot easier to reconnect paired Bluetooth devices. That is how it works.
iOS 13 bluetooth settings
Whether you have AirPods, wireless headphones or other bluetooth earbuds; it may happen that these are no longer connected to your iPhone. In addition, not every earbud automatically connects after you put them in your ear.
To manually connect paired Bluetooth devices, you must go to your Bluetooth settings in ‘Settings’. This is no longer necessary from iOS 13, because you can also operate your linked devices from the Control Panel. So you no longer have to leave Spotify, Netflix or YouTube to give your headset a signal first.
Controlling your bluetooth devices in the Control Panel is very easy. Make sure that the headset you want to operate has already been paired with your iPhone.

- Open the Control Center by swiping from the top right corner to the center (iPhone X and later) or from the bottom of your screen to the top (iPhone 8 and earlier);
- Press and hold the bluetooth icon – to the right of the wifi icon – twice using 3D Touch (or Haptic Touch on the iPhone XR and iPhone 11);
- In the overview that appears, tap the bluetooth device you want to connect. This is successful if it says ‘Connected’.
This new shortcut is also useful if you want to go to the Bluetooth menu in Settings, for example to pair a new device. By tapping on ‘Bluetooth settings…’ under the overview, you go directly to the menu. It is important to press long or hard enough. If you briefly tap the bluetooth icon, you simply switch the function on or off.
More in iOS 13
In addition to this new bluetooth function, there are more useful improvements in the update for your iPhone and iPad. If you both have AirPods, you can share audio in iOS 13. Then you can both listen to music or watch a movie via your own set of AirPods on the same iPad or iPhone.
In addition, you can automate more and more things. For example, you can set your Safari tabs to close automatically every day, week or month. Then you no longer have to worry about a cluttered browser.
