Before the new week starts, let’s take a look back at the past few days. The iPhoned editors have rounded up this week’s best iPhone apps and updates for you.
Last week’s best iPhone apps
The App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates to existing programs and all kinds of games are popping up all the time. You will probably not notice this much, because most of it is not worth downloading. Every Sunday separates iPhoned therefore the wheat chaff. Here are the best iPhone apps and updates from last week.
1. Cozy Grove
Fans of Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley pay attention: Apple Arcade comes with the new game Cozy Grove. In this you play a girl scout on an island, who helps ghosts trapped in the world. This may sound a bit scary, but it really isn’t. The ghosts take the form of large, cube-shaped beasts.
On the island you can also fish and make new things. The beasts on the island all have their own memories, stories and ways to help you. Your friendships with the ghosts grow as you do more missions. The island is gray at first, but the more ghosts you manage to help, the more colorful your island becomes.
2. Sixth Extinction
Where Cozy Grove isn’t dark at all, Sixth Extinction is. In fact, the app is a puzzle game, but it is much more than that. There is a chilling story behind it. It’s up to you to find out the truth and make an important discovery about yourself and the world.
To get past obstacles you solve various challenging puzzles. It took developer Polte Games three years to develop this game, and you can tell. The game is beautifully designed and the poetic narration provides an extra deep layer.
3. Nano Legends
Nano Legends is a new strategy game for iOS. It takes place in a witch’s old shop. She has collected antique items here for the past thousand years. The witch uses these items to bring small figures to life: the Nanos.
However, these Nanos do battle with each other. As a giant, you are given the task of commanding an army and taking out your opponents. You play as one of thirteen heroes to choose from, and with an update in mid-April there will be a lot more content.
4. Blixic
If you are looking for a minimalist puzzle game for the waiting room, you can download Blixi. The idea is simple: slide the balls back and forth so that the same colors link. The handy thing about the app is that it automatically saves your progress, also during the game.
So you can easily open and close the app, and just pick up where you left off. Moreover, you do not need an internet connection for the app. The game is free and has no time limit. That makes it a wonderfully relaxing game if you have some time to kill, and it’s surprisingly addictive too.
5. ThInk
If you work a lot on your iPad or iPhone, ThInk is a very handy note-taking app. This allows you to read PDF files on your device, but you can also add notes and marks at the same time. Moreover, you can quickly develop and sketch your ideas in the app with your Apple Pencil.

The smart app learns your handwriting and converts it to text or creates perfect shapes in your sketches. You can also easily add photos to your notes. The app also works great for studying.
