Tikkie Check released: this is how you pay contactless in the catering industry

Tikkie now also comes in handy on the terrace. With the new Tikkie Check you can pay contactless in the catering industry and you no longer have to wait for the receipt. That is how it works.

Tikkie Check official

ABN Amro, the maker of the popular payment app Tikkie, has released a new product for catering entrepreneurs. With Tikkie Check, guests can pay completely ‘coronaproof’ contactless and split the bill among themselves, without an employee being involved.

Checkout via Tikkie Check is very simple:

  1. Scan the QR code of your table with the camera of your iPhone and enter the table number;
  2. Place your order with the service;
  3. Have you sat on the terrace long enough? Then tap ‘Pay now’ in the app and give a tip if necessary;
  4. Afterwards you can immediately share the bill with your friends and download the table voucher.

During step 3, the checkout, Tikkie Check makes a proposal to round off the amount. This includes a tip for the catering industry. The above steps only work when you are at a café, restaurant or terrace that supports Tikkie Check. You can recognize such things by the QR stickers that are stuck on the tables.

Ordering therefore takes place via the control. ABN Amro has not made ordering digital because of the lack of personality. However, you will see a digital voucher in the app that is immediately topped up when you order an extra drink.

Costs and conditions

Tikkie Check is free for guests, but catering operators have to pay for the service of ABN Amro. This amount depends on the amount of transactions made with Tikkie per month, but it costs at least 9 cents per transaction. ABN also charges monthly service costs for the payment service.

More about Tikkie

Tikkie has millions of users in the Netherlands. For example, with this app from ABN Amro you can easily repay a friend because he/she has paid the bill. However, the service is more than just paying. Check our Tikkie guide to set up your own thank you gif, for example. Friends will see this animation when they have (re)paid you.
