Deleting mail on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is very easy. Instead of deleting each message individually, you can throw tens, hundreds or even thousands of messages in the trash at once. That is how it works.
Delete mail on iPhone and iPad
You probably receive e-mails every day that you would rather lose than be rich. Keeping an orderly inbox is therefore quite a chore. In addition to unsubscribing from unnecessary emails as much as possible, we recommend that you sweep the broom through your inbox every now and then.
How to delete multiple emails:
- Grab your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and open the Mail app;
- Go to ‘Incoming’ mailbox and tap ‘Edit’ in the top right corner;
- Select all the messages you want to delete or tap ‘Select all’ at the top left;
- Tap on ‘Archive’ to include the e-mails in your administration;
- Or choose Move and then select the trash can to discard the messages.
But we are not there yet. You have now moved the messages to the trash. This can best be seen as part of your mailbox, just like ‘Sent’. To actually delete the messages from your iPad, iPod touch or iPhone, we still have to ’empty’ this trash:
- In the Mail app, tap on ‘Mailboxes’ at the top left of the screen;
- Go to ‘Trash’ and select ‘Edit’ again, top right;
- Manually select some messages, or tap ‘Select all’ to choose all emails in the trash can;
- Press ‘Delete’ at the bottom right of the screen to permanently delete the messages.
From now on, the messages will no longer roam on your Apple device. Therefore, make sure you are sure, because the deleted emails cannot be retrieved! Tip: Still looking for another email app? We recommend Spark.
