Create or find a new Mac wallpaper
Since macOS Mojave it is possible to use dynamic wallpapers. These backgrounds adapt at any time of the day. In the morning you have a light background, and towards the evening the wallpaper gradually turns dark.
Thanks to the website Dynamic Wallpaper Club you can easily create such a changing background with your own photos. All you need is at least two different photos with the same resolution. You can then set which image should appear at what time during the day.
You choose whether you also opt for a light photo for the daytime and a dark picture for the evening hours. A dark image for the evening goes extra nicely with the dark mode of macOS Mojave, which gives the entire operating system a different touch.

This is how you set a new background
When you find the perfect wallpaper, set it up by following the steps below. This will make it appear on your desktop as well as the lock screen. In this way it is also possible to choose a background from Apple’s standard collection.
- From your Dock, open the ‘System Preferences’ menu or tap the Apple icon in the top right and open the options;
- Click on ‘Desktop and screen saver’;
- Under the heading ‘Apple’ in the folder ‘Desktop’ you will find all standard wallpapers that are available. Tap one of these backgrounds to set it;
- To set your own photo as background, tap the plus icon at the bottom left. Then select the background you want to set in Finder;
- Close System Preferences to save changes.
