Tip: Maintain Night Shift and energy saving at the same time

Night Shift can be used since iOS 9.3 and gives the user peace of mind in dark eyes. However, along with the Energy Saver mode, it no longer works, but there is a workaround.

At the same time is no longer possible

Night Shift and Power Saving Mode are useful features, but unfortunately you can’t use both at the same time. If you have Night Shift on, you cannot use the Energy Saving mode and vice versa. Night Shift simply demands too much from your battery for that.

According to 9to5Mac it was previously possible to bypass this restriction via Siri, but with the arrival of iOS 9.3.1, Apple has already closed that detour. However, the website now says it has found a way that you can still use the Energy Saving Mode and Night Shift both.

Enable Night Shift and Power Saving Mode

However, the method takes quite a bit of practice and mainly seems to come down to accurate timing. That is how it works:

  1. Go to ‘Settings> Battery’;
  2. Turn on ‘Energy saving mode’;
  3. Summon Siri and ask to turn on Night Shift. Siri then tells it to turn off Power Saving Mode and asks if it should continue;
  4. Respond with ‘yes’ and before the command is confirmed, press the power button to put the phone in standby;
  5. You can still hear the confirmation sound while the screen is already black;
  6. Once you have timed it right, you’ll notice that both Night Shift and Power Saving Mode are on when you turn the iPhone back on.

Are you succeeding?

In the comments under the YouTube video of 9to5Mac, several users say that it works. Our timing turns out to be less good. Can you get it working? Let us know in the comments below this article.

It is hoped that Apple will let the two functions work together in the future. In the evening it is nice to look at a somewhat quieter screen and there is a good chance that your battery is not completely full at the end of the day.
