Popular messaging app WhatsApp introduces the ability to customize a WhatsApp group so that only the group admin can send messages.
Only let the WhatsApp group manager send messages
WhatsApp groups are not only used to chat with a group of friends, colleagues or family. These groups are also useful for receiving news and other updates. Consider, for example, a WhatsApp group of a school, in which messages with important announcements are sent to parents. In such cases, it is inconvenient if everyone is chatting through it. There is now a solution for this.
Just like messaging app Telegram, it is now possible to set WhatsApp so that only the group manager can send messages. Instead of a chat bar at the bottom of the screen, other users see the text that only the administrator can send messages. This is possibly also a useful function if you just want to have everyone in a group quiet for a while.
This is how you enable the function
To enable this new function, complete the following steps.
- You open a group that you manage yourself;
- You press the group name at the top;
- In the new screen, press ‘Group settings’;
- There you choose ‘Send messages’;
- In the pop-up, choose ‘Only administrators’ and press ‘OK’.
