Tip: Schedule emails to be sent later, here’s how

In this tip, we’ll show you how to automatically send emails at a later time by scheduling them.

You schedule e-mails like this

Sometimes it is useful to send an email at a later time. For example, if you want to congratulate a friend on his or her birthday, or if you have colleagues abroad who otherwise receive your e-mails in the middle of the night.

Fortunately, scheduling emails is a piece of cake. We show how it works and use the app Spark for this: in our opinion one of the smartest email apps for iOS. You can schedule e-mails like this:

  1. Download Spark and set up your email account (s). It can handle iCloud, Gmail and Outlook accounts, among others;
  2. Compose an email and fill in the usual information: recipient, subject and your message;
  3. Tap the ‘Schedule’ icon at the top right of the keyboard;
  4. Select one of the standard options, or set a date and time when your e-mail is sent. You can plan up to six months in advance;
  5. Confirm and you’re done. If you still don’t want to send the e-mail, you can edit or delete it in your outbox folder.
