It was already possible to record a slow motion video, but with the camera of the new iPhone 11 devices it is also possible to record a slow motion video with your front camera: also called a Slofie mentioned. How do you do that? Read more!
Making a Slofie
Apple has even applied for a patent on the word: the Slofie. The slow motion selfie, which this word refers to, is a new Camera feature of the iPhone 11 series. This allows you to record a slow-motion video with the front camera of the new iPhone. This is how you do it:
- Open the Camera app on your iPhone 11 (Pro)
- Swipe left to choose ‘Slow Motion’ mode
- Tap the arrow icon in the lower right corner to record with the front camera
- To record a movie, tap the red record button.
- Tap the stop button to end the recording.

To adjust
If you have made a Slofie you can also adjust it. At the bottom left of your screen you can see the thumbnail of your Slofie. Tap it to view the file in the Photos app. Tap Edit to adjust your video. Here you can crop the video, add filters and adjust the light. You can also choose which part of the video you want to play in slow motion.
At the bottom you see a bar with two lines that you can drag. This bar is the timeline of your video. The part between the two dashes is the part that is played in slow motion. You make this part longer or shorter by placing the lines further apart or closer together.
Adjust frame rate and resolution
If you have an iPhone 11 Pro you can change the frame rate and resolution. You do this by going to ‘Camera’ in settings. Then tap Record Slow Motion to change the frame rate and resolution. Note: If you set this higher, the video file will also be larger. If you have an iPhone 11, this function is not available.
