Tired of having to put those standard Apple apps, such as Stocks and Game Center, away in a folder? In this article, we’ll give you a way to make them disappear from your home screen.
Get rid of standard Apple apps
Earlier on iPhoned we already shared a way to remove some fixed apps from Apple, but that did not make it possible to remove them all from the home screen. Now a YouTuber has figured out how to do that. In this article we explain how that works, based on the video.
Apple itself does not allow dropping Apple apps. If you hold down the icons of these apps, as is usual when removing most apps, they will start to wobble, but there is no cross to throw them away. Result: these apps end up in a separate folder or on another page for many Apple users to hide them.
This way you can remove Apple apps
But now there is a solution. This does not remove them completely, but makes them invisible on the homescreen. Follow the step-by-step plan below:
- Choose an app that you want to make disappear and put it in a folder;
- Open the folder and press the icon until the apps start to wiggle;
- Swipe the icon to an empty page within the folder and release;
- Pick up the icon again and swipe it again to a new page;
- On this new page within the folder, tap the home button while still holding the app;
- The app zooms away and disappears from your folder and from your home screen.
Discard and retrieve
You can do this with all standard Apple apps. Again, they have not disappeared and you can even use them. To do this, slide down on the home screen to open the search field. Type the name of the app and it will appear below the search field.
Incidentally, the disappeared apps are not forever. Because when you restart your iPhone, they just come back. You then have to manually remove them. But if you never turn off your iPhone, it will not bother you. At least not until you install a new iOS version.
