The Chromecast is also a handy device for iPhones to stream videos to your television. Unfortunately with an iPhone it is a bit more cumbersome to mirror your phone screen on your TV, but it is not impossible. That’s how you do it.
Mirror an iPhone screen
Almost everyone uses it: the Chromecast. With this small device you can turn any TV into a Smart TV. You can stream videos from apps on your smartphone to your TV using WiFi. It is of course important that you are on the same WiFi network as the Chromecast.
For Android phones, it is also possible to duplicate, or mirror, your phone screen to your TV via Google Home. Unfortunately, this is not possible for iPhone. Fortunately, there is another way to mirror the screen of your iPhone. You need an external app for this. It goes like this:
- Download and open the app TV Mirror for Chromecast;
- If your Chromecast is already set up and your iPhone is connected to the same WiFi, the app will recognize your Chromecast immediately. If not, you can first set this via the Home app;
- Tap the name of your Chromecast you want to cast your screen to, for example ‘Living Room’;
- After watching an ad, tap ‘Cast screen’ and then ‘Start broadcast’.
Your screen can now be seen on your television screen. Do you want to stop casting? Then tap ‘Stop broadcast’ in the app, or tap your clock at the top left and then tap ‘Stop’. There are several similar apps that can mirror the screen of your iPad or iPhone. While most are free to download, they are not free to use. TV Mirror is free, but therefore show you an advertisement before you can mirror your screen. Apps such as Chromecast TV Streamer or Screen Mirror for Chromecast do not show ads, but you do need a paid subscription for this.
