Apple Music is included in iTunes by default for easy access. If you don’t use Apple Music, you can just as well remove the service. You can read how in this tip article.
Delete Apple Music in iTunes
Apple Music has been out for a while now and currently has about 13 million paying users, which has seen the service grow tremendously in a relatively short period of time. Still, Spotify remains a bit bigger with 30 million paying users.
If you do not use Apple Music, it may be annoying that the service takes a place by default in iTunes, the program with which you manage your music collection and iOS device. Hence, there is an option to delete Apple Music from iTunes. Below, we’ll first explain how to get the For You and New tab from iTunes. You still have access to the radio station Beats 1 and the Connect function.
- Open iTunes on your Mac or PC;
- In the menu bar at the top left, click on ‘iTunes’ and then ‘Preferences’;
- Then press the tick for ‘Show Apple Music’ under the heading ‘General’.

As mentioned, it is also possible to completely remove Apple Music from iTunes. To do this, follow the steps below.
- Open iTunes;
- In the menu bar at the top left, click on ‘iTunes’ and then ‘Preferences’;
- Go to the ‘Restrictions’ heading and tick ‘Apple Music’ and ‘Connect’ and press ‘OK’.

Update for iTunes
At the beginning of this week, iTunes got a much-needed update. With version 12.4, Apple makes a number of tweaks to the design of iTunes and a number of options have also been added. The menu on the left returns, making it easier for users to navigate the program. Back and forward buttons have also been added to switch between screens.
Unfortunately, a small group of users were affected by a bug that caused music to suddenly disappear. Fortunately, the latest iTunes version resolves this error, while the software has also become a lot faster in general. This is especially noticeable on older MacBooks and iMacs.
