It is possible to have your Mac (Book) automatically start up or shut down at specific times. In this tip you can read how it works.
Automatically start up Mac
Having your Mac start up automatically is useful when, for example, you go to work on your computer at fixed times and want to have your applications synchronized and updated. The option has been in macOS (and the older OS X) for quite some time and can also be useful if you want to prevent your Mac from hibernating. By switching it off at fixed times, you prevent your computer from remaining active when it is not necessarily necessary.
- Open your Mac’s System Preferences by clicking the corresponding icon in your Dock. Or tap in the menu bar at the top left on the apple and then ‘System Preferences …’;
- Then choose ‘Energy setting’. There you will see various options, but choose ‘Schema…’ at the bottom right;
- When you check ‘Turn on or turn off sleep’, you will be given the option to choose when to automatically turn your Mac on and off. This can be on specific days, but also, for example, only on days that you work, or on weekends;
- Tap ‘OK’ to confirm the changes.

Note that you must be signed in to your Mac for the device to automatically turn off. In addition, you cannot leave your computer in sleep / hibernation mode, otherwise the automatic shutdown will not work. Also, of course, make sure that you do not have any important documents open that you still need to save, to avoid losing things.
