Tip: Turn off Apple Pay notifications on iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac

Do you receive a confirmation from both Apple Pay and ING when you pay for something contactless and do you find this annoying? This is how you turn off notifications from Apple Pay on iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac.

Turn off Apple Pay notifications

You will automatically receive a notification when you pay with Apple Pay. This way you know that the payment has been successful. The ING app may also do this, so you will be told twice that the amount has been debited from your account. By disabling the notifications from Apple’s payment system, you prevent this double confirmation. This is how you turn off the notifications on iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac.

Here’s how to turn off Apple Pay notifications on iPhone:

  1. Go to the Settings app on your iPhone;
  2. Tap ‘Wallet and Apple Pay’ and choose the card for which you want to turn off notifications;
  3. Choose the ‘Transactions’ tab and slide the switch at ‘Allow notifications’;
  4. You will no longer receive notifications from Apple Pay.

It works much the same on an Apple Watch:

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone;
  2. Tap ‘Wallet and Apple Pay’ and choose the card for which you want to turn off notifications;
  3. Move the switch for ‘Allow Notifications’ so that the box turns gray.

Do you no longer want to receive a confirmation when a payment has been successful? Then open the ING app on your iPhone, tap the three lines at the top left of the screen and choose ‘Settings’ at the bottom of the menu. Tap Push Notifications and slide the switch so the box turns gray.

Turn off Apple Pay notifications on Mac

Do you mainly pay online with Apple Pay? Even then you may receive a double notification. This is how you turn off Apple Pay notifications on your Mac (Book):

  1. Open ‘System Preferences’ via the apple at the top left of your screen:
  2. Click on the payment card for which you want to disable notifications;
  3. Select ‘Transactions’ and tick the box’ Show transaction reports from [je pas]” from;
  4. From now on you will no longer receive notifications.
