Transfer FaceTime calls using Handoff

Since iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventrua, you can transfer FaceTime calls from your iPhone to your Mac or iPad, and vice versa. If you have connected a Bluetooth headset, it will immediately transfer to the new device.

This is made possible with the help of Handoff, this technology ensures that you can take over tasks from your Apple devices. Bluetooth and a direct WiFi connection are used for this.

Conditions Handoff

To use Handoff, your devices must meet the Continuity system requirements. You will find an overview of all devices here back. In addition, you must be signed in with the same Apple ID on all devices and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Handoff must be enabled.

Activate handoff

  • iPhone or iPad: Settings ▸ General ▸ AirPlay and Handoff ▸ enable ‘Handoff’
  • Mac: From macOS Ventura:  ▸ System Settings ▸ General ▸ AirDrop & Handoff ▸ enable “Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices”

Transfer FaceTime calls

Once you enable Handoff, you can transfer FaceTime calls from your iPhone to your Mac or iPad, and vice versa. To do this, take the relevant device at hand and on an iPad or iPhone, tap the notification ‘Move conversation to this’ on the lock screen. [apparaat]’.
