Bring a PowerPoint slideshow to life with an animated transition between the slides and add audio if desired.
Set transition
For this tip, we assume an existing presentation in PowerPoint 2010 or 2013. Set the transition between slides as follows:
- Open a presentation in PowerPoint.
- In the left pane of PowerPoint, click the second slide to see the effect of a transition.
- In the Ribbon, click on the tab transitions.
- In this tab you can set the transitions. The ‘Transition to this slide’ group contains a variety of options. Display all transitions by clicking on the triangle to the right of the transitions.
- Choose from subtle, bold and dynamic transitions. Click on one of the transitions.
- You will immediately see the transition on the slide. Click on another transition if you are not satisfied.
- To the right of the transitions is the word “Effect Options.” Click on this and determine even more precisely how the transition will look like. These options are not available with every transition, however.
- In the ‘Time settings’ group you can also add a sound to the transition. Click on the arrow next to ‘Sound’.
- A selection menu opens. For example, click Camera. You will then hear a photo click at the transition.
- Behind ‘Duration’ is the default duration of the transition. You can adjust this.
- Do you want this transition between all slides? Then click on Apply to everything or Apply everywhere.
- The tick for At mouse click means that the transition to the next slide is initiated by a click of the mouse.
