Twelve South is a brand that has earned their place in the Apple accessories lineup in recent years. The manufacturer makes stylish iPhone cases, handy docking stations for Mac and gadgets. Their newest addition is the Curve Flexa handy MacBook stand that you can easily take with you.
Stands for MacBooks are a regular feature in the Twelve South range, but this flex is an improvement in every respect. Because it is foldable, you can store it more easily and also take it with you on the go.
Twelve South Curve Flex
The Twelve South Curve Flex is, as the name suggests, a flexible standard. You can easily unfold the stand until it is in the correct position. This gives you much more freedom so that you can always set the right angle.
The sturdy hinges ensure that the position remains the same, and with the included Allen key you can tighten or loosen it depending on the weight of your MacBook or laptop.
Functional design
Twelve South is known for releasing high-quality products with an eye for functionality and design. This is also perfectly integrated with the curve flex, resulting in a foldable and sleekly designed stand.
The curve flex is made of aluminum, finished with a black coating that blends seamlessly with the colors of the Macbook. There is also a white version available so it may better match your desk, personality or storage bag.
The design is special and consists of two semi-oval circles that are connected with an intermediate piece. The circles have a rubber coating so that your MacBook does not slide and remains firmly on the table or desk.
Adjustable and adaptable
The stand can support a maximum of 3 kg, which is sufficient for the MacBook range, because the heaviest MacBook at the moment weighs more than 2 kg.
The semicircles are connected to an intermediate piece via hinges. The hinges ensure that you can easily adjust the curve flex. If this is too stiff or too smooth, you can adjust it with the supplied Allen key.
We did not have to tighten the hinges during our test period, but Twelve South does say that you should tighten the screws every now and then so that the stand continues to function properly.
Also for on the road
The Twelve South Curve Flex can be easily folded and stored in the included travel bag, made of neoprene. When folded, the stand measures 26.4 cm x 22.4 cm x 3 cm, so it may not fit in all bags. When stored, the curve flex remains large, competitors offer other solutionsbut these are less sturdy.
Twelve South Curve Flex in practice
When you first take the Cruve Flex out of the box, you will see some stickers on the stand that explain how to open and use it. Once you’ve mastered the ‘trick’ it goes a little smoother, but the resistance sometimes makes it difficult to open and close it properly.
Because you can place the stand in different positions, you never actually have exactly the same height as before. This can sometimes be too high or too low than you are used to. So it is good to practice and adjust so that you have the correct position with one action.
Good to know: In the highest position it is not possible to close the screen completely. The screen then touches the bracket, as you can see in the photo below.

The height can be adjusted thanks to sturdy hinges that you can also adjust with the supplied Allen key. The design is stylish and because the stand has a rubber coating, your MacBook stays firmly in place.
You can easily fold the Curve Flex again and store it in the included travel bag so that you can also use the stand on the go. Although the dimensions are kept to a minimum, in some cases the Curve Flex is too large to put in a bag.
