The Vision Pro is equipped with a virtual keyboard that you can use on the spatial computer. You can place the keyboard floating in space and by ‘tapping’ the keys you can type letters, numbers and punctuation marks.
It probably looks strange to those around you, after all, you are typing in a vacuum, but the cameras and sensors accurately register your gestures and convert them into input for the virtual keyboard.
Virtual keyboard Apple Vision Pro
You can type with a virtual keyboard on Apple Vision Pro and use gestures to select and edit text. Most users will only use the virtual keyboard for minor adjustments, entering a website or searching. Typing long texts may not be an option, so it is better to connect a Magic Keyboard to the Vision.

Use Vision Pro keyboard
- Tap a text field to activate the keyboard
- Touch the keys on the virtual keyboard with up to one finger on each hand
- Type the keys one by one in this way
- The text you enter is also displayed in the preview at the top of the keyboard
Do you want to type letters, punctuation marks and numbers faster? Then look at each key and then tap your thumb and index finger together to type. You will notice that this works faster than tapping the keys one by one.

You can add special letters and characters by looking at the letter or punctuation mark and then pressing your thumb and index finger together (pinch motion) and holding to display the special characters and accents. Then look at the character you want and tap to add it.
Virtual keyboard not visible
If you don’t see the virtual keyboard, try centering your view. To do this, press and hold the Digital Crown. In some cases, for example when using a Bluetooth keyboard, a minimized version of the virtual keyboard appears. This then displays the input from the Bluetooth keyboard. Tap the keyboard icon in the corner to display the virtual keyboard.
Edit texts on Vision Pro
Now that you know how to type texts on the spatial computer, it may also be interesting to know how you can edit them. Below is a brief explanation of how to use it on a Vision Pro.
Move cursor
Look at the cursor, pinch with two fingers, and then drag the cursor to where you want it. Release it to place it. Just make sure you pinch and drag in the text field or canvas of the app where you’re typing and not in the preview at the top of the virtual keyboard.

Select text
Double-tap a word in the text field (not in the preview at the top of the virtual keyboard), then pinch and drag either end of the selected text to add or remove text from the selection.
Delete text
- Delete some characters: Tap or touch the Delete key. Pinch and hold, or touch, to quickly delete multiple characters at once.
- To delete large amounts of text: select all the text you want to delete and then tap or touch the Delete key.
Change keyboard settings
Via Settings â–¸ General â–¸ Keyboard it is possible to change all kinds of settings related to the virtual keyboard. For example, you can change options for autocorrection, suggestions, smart quotes or dashes (for example, whether two hyphens automatically turn into a dash), and more. These settings apply to the virtual keyboard and external keyboard.
