Apple regularly releases updates to the operating system for the iPad and iPhone. Keep the device up to date and install the latest iOS version.
Update Operating System
To make an iPad or iPhone work, the devices have an operating system. The system is called iOS (iPhone) and iPadOS (iPad). Every fall, Apple releases a new version of iOS and iPadOS. We call that an upgrade. There are also minor updates in the meantime. They contain the latest security techniques. As soon as an update or upgrade is ready, a red circle will appear next to the ‘Settings’ app icon.
Install iPhone or iPad updates
Update the operating system (in the meantime) like this:
- Tap the app Institutions.
- Tap on General.
- Tap on software update.
- If the device has the latest version of the operating system on it, it will say ‘iOS xxx The software is up to date’. Here xxx stands for the numbers of the last update. Isn’t this there? Tap on Download and install.
