Use Autoplay in Apple Music and Music app

Apple Music subscribers can use the handy autoplay feature. This allows you to play music based on one selected song. You select a song and play it. In the meantime, Apple Music will look for songs that fit within the same genre for you.

The Autoplay feature for Apple Music is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac and using it is super simple. You just need to know which button to tap/click to activate the option.

  1. Open the Music app on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Play one of your favorite songs
  3. Switch to caller ID by tapping the title bar above the button bar.
  4. Tap the three lines at the bottom right of the screen
  5. Select it at the top right (infinity symbol)

After activating Autoplay, the button will be framed with a square. Press the Autoplay symbol again to deactivate the function.

Step-by-step plan for Mac

On a Mac, you can enable the feature since macOS Big Sur 11.3 by clicking the list icon. The next list will now open. Click on it (infinity symbol) to enable or disable the autoplay feature.

Immediately after Autoplay is enabled, the songs that will be played after the current song will appear on the screen. You can possibly use it symbol behind the songs adjust the order of playback.

Through the button at the top right of the screen you can add the current song to your favorites or a playlist, among other things.

The songs played automatically appear in the history view afterwards. You can of course also delete this history.

Autoplay is similar to the radio station feature for artists, albums and songs. The downside of this feature is that it works with playlists. You activate Autoplay with a single tap and you don’t have to worry about it anymore, everything is completely automatic.
