Since Watchos 11 it is possible to add a Shazam Widget to the smart stack (Smart Stack) from Watchos. With this you can quickly recognize music using your Apple Watch a handy addition.
You activate the smart stack in Watchos by turning up with the digital crown. You can determine which widgets are shown yourself and from now on there is also a widget for music recognition using Shazam.
What is Shazam?
Shazam is a popular music recognition app that enables users to quickly identify the title and artist of a song by listening to the music. Shazam uses advanced audio fingerprinting technology to recognize the music.
Since the takeover by Apple in 2017, Shazam has been integrated into various Apple products and can also be used via Siri. In addition, Shazam offers the opportunity to save and share recognized songs, and it is linked to streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify.
Shazam Widget Add to the smart stack
You can add the special Shazam Widget to the smart stack (Smart Stack) from Watchos using the steps below:
- Activate the smart stack by turning the digital crown upwards.
- Put your finger on a widget to activate the editing mode.
- Tap the Plus button to add a widget.
- Use the digital crown until you see ‘music recognition’.
- Tap on this and then on Shazam (Happy Music) to add the widget.
- Confirm the adding the widget by tapping the chord symbol at the top left of the screen.
Add the Shazam complication to the smart stack
The Shazam Widget can also be added to the smart stack of Watchos as a complication. This works in the same way as adding the widget.
- Activate the smart stack by turning the digital crown upwards.
- Put your finger on a complication to activate the editing mode.
- Tap the Plus button to add a complication.
- Use the digital crown until your ‘music recognition’ and tap it.
- Confirm the adding the complication by tapping the chord symbol at the top left of the screen.
Recognize a song with Shazam
Open the smart pile on your Apple Watch and tap the Shazam Complication or Widget. The Shazam app will now try to identify the music that is being played, the result is displayed on the screen.
