Use watch face effects on Apple Watch

Adjusted since watchOS 10

Some Apple Watch dials are equipped with special effects, such as contour, Pride, signpost, Metropolitan, world time, etc. All these dials can show extra views when you activate them in the special way.

For example, you can activate the compass ring on Signpost, rotate the globe for world time, make the numbers move with contour, etc. Before watchOS 10 you can use these effects by turning the Digital Crown, but this is no longer possible since watchOS 10. possibly because it will open the smart stack of widgets.

Some watch faces respond to turning the Digital Crown, a good example of this is the special Apple Watch Ultra watch faces with night mode. Under watchOS 9 you could turn the Digital Crown to display it red for less bright light. Since watchOS 10, the Apple Watch will automatically activate this night mode when the ambient light sensor detects a dark environment.

Use watch face effects

In addition, even more dials contain special effects that you could previously activate with the Digital Crown. Now you have to consult them in a different way. For example, do you want to move the numbers on the Contour watch face or adjust the view for Metropolitan? Then first tap the watch face to activate the display and then turn the Digital Crown.

These aren’t the only watch faces you can edit this way. Unfortunately, Apple does not have an overview of all the records that you can edit during use. But you can at least try it for Pride, Nebula, Emoji, Moon, Earth, Chronograph, Kaleidoscope, Motion, etc. You do this by first tapping on the watch face and then turning the Digital Crown you can change the view to adjust.

Do you know of any other watch faces that you can edit this way? Then share it below in the comments.
