In addition, you can also use Image Playground directly in the Message app and generate images based on discussion partners and the content of a conversation. Finally, you can make your own emoji with the Genmoji function in the Message app for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Support Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence in Messages
In addition to the support for Image Playground and Genmoji, the Message Application for iPhone, iPad and Mac contains some unique functions in Apple Intelligence. This way you can summarize notifications and automatically answers to messages with smart answers.
Message Allocations
With the help of summaries in messages you can see the most important points of unread messages from each conversation directly in the overview of all chats. This allows you to immediately assess whether it is necessary to respond to the messages.
If you switch on Apple Intelligence, summaries are automatically displayed under your conversations. You can disable summaries if you prefer to see the most recent message in every conversation.
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
- Go to ‘Apps’
- Tap ‘Messages’ (Messages)
- Select the ‘Summarze Messages’ option (summarizes messages) on or off
On a Mac you can set this via the Message app â–¸ Menu bar â–¸ Messages (Messages) â–¸ Settigns (Settings) â–¸ General (General) â–¸ ‘Summarze Messages’ (summarizes messages together).
Smart answer for messages
The Smart Answer (Smart Reply) function helps you to quickly prepare an answer to ensure that you have answered everything. The function looks at the content of the message and proposes some suggestions that you can use immediately.
On an iPhone or iPad you will find the smart answers immediately at the top of the keyboard after you have ticked the answer button. On a Mac of Vision Pro, click on the text field and choose a presented answer in the pop-up menu.
Image Playground in Messages
The Image Playground-Feature is in messages, so that you can immediately make and insert an image. Suggestions in the Playground app are not contextual, but when you use the function in messages, you may see suggestions based on the conversation.
- Tap in a conversation on the plus button
- Then choose Image Playground in the list
- A mini app is opened
This version of Playground works the same as the full app. Just type in a description of an image and use the same steps to get it where you want it. When you’re done, tap ready and it appears the image in the shipping field of your conversation and you can send it. Playground will automatically give suggestions based on the conversation.
Genmoji in Messages
Genmoji is a function of Apple Intelligence with which users can create their own unique emoji by simply typing a description or using a photo of a person. These AI-generated emoji can be adjusted with accessories and themes, and can be used in messages, as stickers or as comments, just like regular emoji.
