On March 1, 2022, the streaming service Viaplay will be launched in the Netherlands with live sports, Viaplay Originals, international films and series, and content for children. The subscription costs € 13.99 per month and can be taken out at Viaplay or partners such as VodafoneZiggo and KPN.

From March 1, 2022, Nordic Entertainment Group’s (NENT) streaming service Viaplay will bring a range of live sports, Viaplay Originals, international films and series, and content for children. A subscription of € 13.99 per month can be taken out directly with Viaplay or through various partners, including VodafoneZiggo and KPN. The Netherlands will become the eleventh country in the world where Viaplay will be available and at least five other markets will follow by the end of 2023.

Sports
Viaplay offers a wide and diverse range of sports such as Formula 1 with national hero Max Verstappen and PDC Darts with three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen. But also the Matchroom snooker and pool events and all KSW mixed martial arts tournaments can be seen via the streaming service. Football fans are catered for with Bundesliga football, Italian A-series women’s football and Sweden’s Damallsvenskan. From August 2022, this list will be supplemented with Premier League football.
Marco Zwaneveld has recently been named Viaplay’s Head of Sports in the Netherlands. The Formula 1 broadcasts on Viaplay are presented by Amber Brantsen from a premium sports studio in Hilversum. The commentary comes directly from location in all 23 Grands Prix and is in the hands of the duo Nelson Valkenburg and Melroy Heemskerk.

Viaplay Originals
More than thirty original productions will be available under the name Viaplay Originals, including ‘Love Me’, ‘The Box’, ‘Honour’, ‘Threesome’ and the winner of the 2020 Canneseries ‘Partisan’. Viaplay is the largest Scandinavian producer of drama series and has more than 60 premieres planned for 2022. In addition, investments are being made in Dutch Viaplay Originals, for which Kennard Bos has been appointed as Viaplay’s first Executive Producer in the Netherlands.

International movies and series
The streaming service will also add international movies and series to its offering, featuring high-profile content from Hollywood studios such as MGM, Sony and wiip, including major hits such as ‘Men in Black’, ‘Tomb Raider’, ‘Walker’, ‘Dr Death’ and ‘The Capture’. “Jumanji: The Next Level”, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”, “Bad Boys for Life” and “Charlie’s Angels” will also be available shortly after launch.

Children
Content for children is also not skipped. With world-famous children’s series such as ‘Peppa Pig’, ‘My Little Pony’ and ‘LEGO Ninjago’, Viaplay also thinks of the smallest viewers.

All Viaplay Originals and international content contain Dutch subtitles and all content for the children is dubbed. A wide range of devices and platforms will support Viaplay in the Netherlands, including smart TVs, iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, Chromecast, Apple TV, PC and Mac.
