One of the most used standard applications of Apple is without a doubt the Weather application. Since iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and macOS Sonoma you can consult additional information about the wind in the Weather app for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
This way you can view the wind speeds and use a handy wind map. You can also consult the Beaufort scale and keep an eye on the forecasts from hour to hour.
Wind information in Weather app
- Open the Weather app
- Tap or click on the info card for Wind
- A detailed view opens with the calendar at the top
- Tap or click on date or view current day
- View the information about this day

This way you can see from which direction the wind is coming, what the wind force is and what the wind gusts are. The wind speeds are also compared to yesterday.
Wind map
Do you want to immediately request the current status regarding the wind? Then you can view the wind map, which you can find directly in the information card about Wind. The map shows the direction and speed of the wind, also how it bends relative to the entire area.
Beaufort Scale
Since iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma, you can consult the Beaufort scale directly from the Wind info card and this scale is also used to indicate wind speeds.

Change Unit
After opening the info card, you can also change the unit via the options menu at the bottom. For example, instead of Beaufort scale, you can use kilometers per hour, miles per hour, meters per second or knots.
