Vivo is coming to the Netherlands with 3 smartphones, you need to know this

Vivo announces its arrival to the Netherlands today. From July 27, there will be three different Vivo phones in the Netherlands in the shops, varying in price from 219 euros to 1099 euros. Androidworld has learned more about Vivo and the three phones. You can read all about it in this article.

Who is Vivo?

Vivo is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer with more than 400 million users. Vivo says it bases its phone development choices on insights from consumer research and actual customer needs. Partly because of this, Vivo has a few firsts to its name, such as the first fingerprint scanner in the screen or the camera system with gimbal stabilization.

Shen Wei founded the company Vivo in China in 2009 and expanded from 2014 out to more than 100 countries worldwide, including many Asian countries such as India, Cambodia, Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. The Netherlands will now be added to this and Belgium will follow in due course. In 2021, Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo were the largest smartphone brands in the world after Samsung and Apple. Vivo, along with Realme, is also one of the fastest growing brands in Europe. Vivo’s European headquarters are located in Düsseldorf. The Dutch department can be found in Amstelveen.

Androidworld has talked to Vivo about their smartphones, software and other issues. Below you will find the answers to the questions asked.

Does Vivo work closely with BBK and subsidiaries?

Just like OnePlus, Oppo, iQOO and RealMe, Vivo is part of the Chinese BKK Electronics. This is a large company that consists of different divisions.

Vivo indicates that it has no common ground with BBK: “We are separate companies with a separate production process. There are some similarities in the interface, but functions are different.”

Why is Vivo only coming to the Netherlands now?

Many smartphone brands have now established themselves in the Netherlands, and Vivo will not follow until 2022. Why did it take so long?

“We are humble and take a step-by-step approach to enter new markets. We want to do our homework well, so we waited to come to the Netherlands.”

Which Vivo phones are coming to the Netherlands?

Vivo is coming to the Netherlands with the X80 Pro, the Y76 and the Y33s. The first costs 1099 euros and is the flagship of the manufacturer. The second and third device cost 299 euros and 219 euros respectively and fall in the middle and budget segment.

The Vivo X80 Pro is the top model of the three with high-end specifications and a camera system that was developed in collaboration with Zeiss. You will find these cameras in the large square camera island. It contains a 50 MP main camera, a 48 MP wide-angle camera and two telephoto cameras. With these two you can get photos up to 5x closer without loss of quality. This model runs on the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, and has a 6.78-inch AMOLED LTPO3 screen.

Where can you buy the Vivo phones?

Vivo works with distributors and stores to offer the phones in the Netherlands. The Vivo X80 Pro, Y76 and Y33s go on sale on Wednesday, July 27.

“The Vivo telephones will first be available at Belsimpel and other stores will follow. There is also close contact with providers to be able to offer the phones there.”

What about warranty and software updates?

The three Vivo phones run on Android 12 and receive at least 3 years of security updates. Below you will find the number of new Android versions that the phones will receive.

  • Vivo X series -> 3 Android versions + at least 3 years of security updates
  • Vivo Y and V series -> 2 Android versions + at least 3 years of security updates

“Because reliability and after-sales support are critical to vivo, all phones come with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong, customers in the Netherlands can rely on The Phone Lab service, available at eight locations in the Dutch market.”

Why should I buy a Vivo phone?

According to Vivo, a Vivo phone is your no-frills personal assistant. For example, there is no advertising in the software, and no unnecessary gimmicks and apps have been added. “Vivo is modest and doesn’t boast of megapixel count.”
