watchOS 7 tip: this is how you set a sleep schedule on your Apple Watch

The Apple Watch Sleep app is one of the biggest innovations in watchOS 7. By setting sleep goals and schedules, the smart watch helps you get a better night’s sleep. That is how it works.

watchOS 7: This is how you can set a sleep schedule

By wearing your Apple Watch at night while sleeping, the smart watch keeps track of how good your night’s sleep is from watchOS 7. The next morning you can see in the Sleep app how long you have slept, and what your sleep trends have been over the past fourteen days.

In addition, the Apple Watch can help you go to bed on time and get enough hours of sleep. You do this by creating a sleep schedule. It is possible to create multiple schedules, for example a weekday schedule and a weekend schedule.

In a schedule you can set how many hours you want to sleep by means of a sleep goal. You can also indicate what time you want to go to bed and what time you want to get up. When you go to sleep, the Watch goes into sleep mode, so you no longer have distractions when you go to bed. This is how you set a sleep schedule:

  1. Open the Sleep app on your Apple Watch;

  2. Tap on ‘Full schedule’ and choose ‘Add a schedule’;

  3. Then choose ‘Sleep goal’ to indicate how long you want to sleep;

  4. Tap ‘Relax’ to set how long Sleep mode is active before going to bed;

  5. Under ‘Active on’ you choose which days the schedule counts for;

  6. You can set the desired times via ‘Getting up’ and ‘Bedtime’;

  7. You can set a wake-up sound via ‘Alarm clock’;

  8. Confirm your choices.

Your schedule has now been created. You can always change or delete a sleep schedule. You can do this by tapping ‘Delete schedule’ at the bottom of the screen, or press ‘Cancel’ at the top of the screen to create a new schedule.

Don’t want to change your schedule, but still want to turn off your next alarm? That is also very easy.

  1. Open the Sleep app on your Apple Watch;
  2. Tap your bedtime;
  3. Tap Wake Up Time and turn off Alarm Clock.

The alarm clock is then only switched off for the next morning. The schedule will then continue as you have set it.
